Pilgrimage to Ireland - There will be a brief Informational Meeting on Sunday, June 25 in the Parish Life Center following the 10:30 AM Mass.

Totus Tuus - A Catholic "Vacation Bible School"

Days for Grade-school age children: Monday, July 24 to Friday, July 28. Drop off at 9am and pickup at 2:30pm. No cost - kid-friendly lunches and snacks served each day - includes Bible lessons, skits, music, games, prayers, and Mass. Friday is "water fun day."

Evenings for Middle and High School teens: Sunday, July 23 through Thursday, July 28. A great time of fellowship, deepening of their faith and learning the prayers and traditions of the Church (we also need teen volunteers to help with the day program).

The Totus Tuus program is given by Catholic college students from our Diocese (who have been thoroughly vetted and trained). Parish staff will be present during the entire program. Bishop Baker announces the Marian Year for the Diocese of Birmingham, beginning on May 13, 2017, the 100th anniversary of the apparitions of Mary to the three shepherd children at Fatima inPortugal. Click for his announcement. Here are some of the upcoming events in our Parish related to this celebration period:

  • Sunday, June 18 and 25: Exploring Pope St. John Paul's document "Rosarium Virginis Mariae." This Apostolic letter gave the "Luminous Mysteries" to the world. Join Fr. Bean to deepen your love and understanding of the Holy Rosary - 9:00-10:00AM
  • Saturday, July 8: All day conference on the "Message of Our Lady of Fatima" This event will begin at 9:00AM in the Parish Life Center Hall. Special guests will include Fatima expert Sr. Rita Marie, SSEW and EWTN host and author Donna Marie Cooper O'Boyle. There will be opportunities for prayer. The Sister Servants provide a book/gift table. Lunch will be provided.Click Announcement for Details.
  • Wednesday, August 9: "Mary and the Bible" We welcome Diocesan Office of Evangelization Director John Martignoni for a reflection on this important topic. Sandwiches will be served at 6:00PM followed by a Rosary with Fr. Bean. John will give his talk and have a Q&A at 7:00PM

 

Fr. Bean is happy to announce - This Summer the parish will be hosting a seminarian, Br. Matthew Mary, MFVA. Br. Matthew is a member of the Franciscan Friars of the Eternal Word in Irondale, Alabama, and made his perpetual vows in 2014. He studies at Mt. Saint Mary's Seminary in Emmetsburg, Maryland.

New Lecture Series with Fr. Bean: "Exploring Christian Mysticism" Each Wednesday in the Parish Life Center Hall, from 10;00 am - 11:30 am. Check the weekly bulletin for each week's specific topic.

Adult Education / Formation - Sundays at 9:00 am in the Parish Life Center Meeting Room. Various topics each week - see the latest bulletin for each week's topic.

Legion of Mary - Meeting on Tuesdays following the 9am Mass in the Library / Meeting Room.

Maria Goretti Prayer Group - Mondays in the Parish Hall starting September 12. All girls ages 13 to 20 are welcomed to visit, pray the Rosary, and discuss the difficult issues facing girls today: dating, purity, temptations, Catholic identity, etc. Monday evenings, 6:30 - 8:30. Check the current Bulletin for changes in venue.

Catholic Citizenship:

Youth Protection 1 is mandated for any adult who “works with minors on a regular basis or has a reasonable chance of being alone with a minor.” The seminar schedule is updated on a regular basis (click here for the Diocese web site and click on "Child and Youth Protection Information).  Please note that advanced sign-up for each workshop is a must. FAMILY FUN DAY AT SUNSHINE FARM: The St. Theresa Hispanic Ministry is hosting 5th Annual "Family Fun Day" on Saturday, July 29 from 9:00AM-4:00PM at the beautiful Sunshine Farm in Sterrett, Alabama. There will be hamburgers and hot dogs for everyone. Events will include horse rides, pinatas, water slide, paddle boats, fishing, soccer and volleyball. Everyone in invited!

Saturday, August 19 - Mark your calendar for our All-day trip to the Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament and the St. John Paul II Eucharistic Center in Hanceville, Alabama. We will be chartering a bus for this trip. Cost will be $10.00 per person to offset the cost of the bus. Lunch will be provided at the Shrine. Don't miss out on seeing this amazing Catholic destination!

Bingo! - Sponsored by the Knights of Columbus, every 1st and 3rd Friday of the month starting July 7. Cards on sale at 6pm. There will be a total of 6 games played. Snacks and refreshments available for sale. No alcohol permitted. Must be 18 or older to play per city ordinance. Proceeds to benefit the Parish Life Center. See the bulletin for details.

Family Announcements - Each week, the church bulletin lists Births, Baptisms, Birthdays, Parishioner Shut-Ins and Sick, and Deaths.  We rely on your help in making sure these lists are accurate.  Contact the Parish Office if you have any information that should be listed - and to schedule any Mass Intentions for the deceased and those in need of prayer.

Volunteers Needed - St. Theresa needs your help in each of these holy ministries!  Proclaim God's Word; assist in warmly greeting and seating fellow parishioners and visitors; distribute the Eucharistic Sacraments during Communion.  Prayerfully consider each of these ministries, and contact the following persons for more information and to volunteer:

Church Cleaners - sign up for a one-month commitment as a family or as an individual to clean the church.  We need at least 3 people to volunteer for each month.  A sign-up sheet is located in the vestibule for 2016.

Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion and Altar Servers - Deacon Rubio (577-0366)

Linen Team Member - Special Cleaning and Ironing of the Linens used at Mass.

Palms - If you have blessed palms from past years, you may bring them to church for us to dispose of.  You may also dispose of them in a natural way - - such as burning or cutting into small pieces and burying in your garden.  For those who would like to fold their new palms into a cross - click here.
